i have a question and you are all fed up with me asking questions so i will make it quick.
did u boats have to stop to fire thier torpedos? because i heard that either the oberon class or the collins class had to stop to fire thier torpedos. (they are australian modern submarines) |

No.
They did not have to stop. And I have no idea why a modern sub would need to stop. But being you think it's an Australian sub? Maybe it's upside down and they need to aclimate the torp to the position? (Just jokeing Tar Jak!!) LOL Last edited by Madox58; 12-25-08 at 06:21 PM. |

The Oberon Class were built in the 60's
The last Oberon Class in the RAN (Otoma) was decommissioned in December 2000. There successors, the Collins Class entered service from 1996 onwards. The Collins Class (6 vessels) are rarely at sea in any great numbers these days, they have been plafued with technical and design problems and the inability to find sufficient qualified personnel. If a Collins was at a standstill prior to firing a torpedo it is likely that there were insufficient engineers in the engine room ![]() |
