After a long transit from Wilhelmshaven to Cadiz, I noticed something...the weather never changed? So...I searched the forums here and after that, I have a few questions for you.
1. From what I've read, SH3 changes the weather every 24 hours, with a "roll of the dice"...it can be better, worse or the same. Is this true? 2. If #1 is true, when (at what time of the 24 hour day) does this "dice roll" occur? 3. I've also read that TC (time compression) above a certain number will stop the weather change and that you must run for 24 hours, below a certain TC number (128, 256?), to get the weather to change? Is this true? 4. Does the weather change by sailing into a new area? I know from my years as a destroyer sailor on DD 938 (USS Jonas Ingram) that sailing from one body of water to another can result in dramatic sea state changes (I.E. through the Straights of Gibraltar). Is this represented in SH3? Anything you can tell me about SH3 weather, and how it changes would be appreciated. "Main control, Forward Fireroom...Fires lit in 1A boiler at 2330!" "Main control, Aye. Perform a standard 4 hour start up on boiler 1A and be ready with boilers 1A and 1B for a full power run commencing at 0400." "Ready for full power run at 0400, Forward Fireroom, Aye". Nope, I was a Boiler Technician on the USN destroyer Jonas Ingram (DD 938). I loved that old ship...only thing that was "automatic" was steam drum level (feed pump pressure and feedwater control valve). Everything else was completely "hands on". This made for lots of fun on sea and anchor details. As a burnerman...you opened the steam valve to the air blowers, then you increased fuel oil feed to your running burners. If you needed more burners, you manually opened the air register on the next one and cut in fuel to it. I LOVED being a burnerman on Sea and Anchor detail! I'll dig up my old pics and post a few.
