Default Patrol Warning

To: Any sub

Date: February 23, 1942

Subject: Area Warning

To all subs patoling area in or near the Balabac Straight; Convoy sighted; 89 nm SSE, sp 10 knts, Heading: Stationary. 6 Fubuki Class Destroyers, 6 sm. Passenger Carriers, 2 Mogami Class Heavy cruisers, 1 Kuma Class light destroyer.

Captian USS Drum engaged convoy, sank 2 sm passenger carriers, 1 DD. Convoy very elusive. DD's deadly, will run and persue, then back off. If convoy sighted by other ships, proceed with extreme caution. Approach with extreme caution!

Man you got one of them extra special scientific compasses didnt you...

Mine just has

North
South
East
and
West

Bernard keeps getting East and West mixed up. He says Heading due WEAST.

Nope, they're stationary, just moving around in circles.

The only reason I posted this is to warn other Captians that trying to sink this convoy is very difficult. You move in and DD's pick you up.

Evade them and close on the convoy, line up to shoot, fire, and they turn and move.

DD's pick you up again.

Evade.

Close on convoy, line up for shot, fire, same thing happens.

Its just an endless process.

Perhaps you'll have better luck than I.

I just gave up and moved on after 6 attemps and nearly 24 hours.
