Default New VIIC Skin: Navy Digital

DivingDuck reminded me that it's been a few months since I last released a skin, well here's something I used as a warm-up:

I pretty much took a camo similar to this one here:

...and went to town.

Hope you enjoy it, this skin can be found here:

It's too bad that SH3's AI isn't "smart" enough to account for camouflage paint schemes affecting the ability for a u-boat or ship to be detected.

If such were the case, this would be perfect for u-boats that operate near the coastlines.

Nevertheless...awesome work you've done there, yet again!

Without a doubt, that would be remarkable if this game recognized different textures! I took it through calm seas during the day and night, this sub blended right in. And again, when the seas took a turn for the worse the skin matched perfectly. Maybe that's possible for SH5? :hmm:

Ok here's another one I just finished:
Mothballed

Ages ago I wanted to make a rusty looking sub, and it didn't turn out so well. Last night I remembered how Koondawg told me his method to creating his awesome camo patterns for his subs, so I did the same with a picture of rust I snagged off Google and here you have it. I intentionally left the deck and flak guns alone because no self-respecting gunner on earth would let his weapons deteriorate

Enjoy mates, this one's on page 4 as well

Glad you remembered KD's technique!

That u-boat looks like it was pressed back into service straight from the salvage yard.

One can only hope SH5 would have such a good AI, but I'd be happy just to have a full, working 3D interior and exterior where all the hatches and things worked and you would have crew moving about their duties instead of standing around like dept. store dummies waiting for you to click on them....things like moving past you as they carried provisions to the galley or actually loading an externally stored torpedo through the loading hatch into the torpedo room.

Looking forward to more paintjobs from you, SWC!

Any chance you could upgrade those screenshots to a viewable size? Thanks!

Sure thing Gizmo:

Those thumbnails were what I use to link the subs on BtS, next time I'll just post better previews

The inspiration for this Mothballed sub came to me last night when I was watching Down Periscope Couldn't tell you what I've got in mind for my next project but if I can get this one idea to develop yall might really like it!

I thought someone had made a camera mod where you could walk through the subs in SH3? If I recall, it was emailed to me not too long ago... I guess we can dream and find out when SH5 hits the shelves

More skins to come - I'll post them in here when I finish them up!!

This would be for a VIIB, my current and most favorite sub...

Deep blue below the waterline and slate blue above with a black camouflage pattern taken from Wolfehunter's winter camo skin for the VIIB-VIIC...

Full-sized image linked here... VIIBwinter2.jpg

I don't know if the camo pattern would look best in black or another shade of darker blue or the same shade of blue as the lower half of the hull.

Without the original files I'm not sure I'd be able to adjust the colors around without hacking into the white so much. I could attempt something like it but would never be able to duplicate it.

Well hang on... there might be a way...

Give me some time, I can probably sort it out with Wolfehunter's permission!

I think I figured out a way to accomplish this, I'm just waiting on Wolfehunter's permission to mess with his skin
