Default re golfball sun

Had to replace PC with new one and can't get the sun anything like what it was on old one. Have been following the thread but it seems to have hit an unresolvable problem. Yes have tried drivers and settings but no joy. Have tried Krillerssun but it is the same as GWX 2.1. OLCE2 makes the sun and moon very small but a better effect. I think having a weak halo effect is a big cause. I have decided that the only solution is use OLCE2 and make new sun tga's to increase and enhance, plus some tweaking. Any useful tips are appreciated.

1/. GWX 2.1 - 2/. Krillersun - 3/.OLCE2

Hi!

Do you have a NVidia card and antialiasing enabled?
I experienced this sun problem when activating antialiasing higher than 4x!

greetings

I have that wee sun too. I'm not sure if I'm that bothered by it. I was looking at the sun today and it looks nowhere near as big as the one in GWX.

Hi rob989
The wee sun has a better effect, but the moon's that size also. I think 3 times smaller than GWX, which is about 3x bigger than the OLCE2 one. I can do that and also try to improve the halo. I won't get it as blindingly bright as the old PC, but it'll be an improvement. I 've done a quick trial by doubling the size of OLC's sunhalo.tga and it is an improvement.

TBW, try this fix. It doesn't work for everyone, but judging by your screens it should work for your machine.

A small note regarding the sun size:
It's not a bug, I made it smaller on purpose. You might find it hard to believe but the sun and moon in OLCE2, although smaller than those in GWX, are actually still slightly bigger than the sun and moon in real life! I'll not bore people with the math... here's a picture instead:

Thankyou OLC

I'll let you know the result.

You won't believe it, but the photo sun looks smaller than real life. I thought it was the new pc, but it must be me getting use to a large sun.

I was right with predicting the sticky on OLCE2 though.

Sorry I couldn't assist with your new project, but I can see your macro could crack a lot of other problems as well. It might even solve one of mine.

Have tried moving the torpedo setting dials about in your GUI to solve the high res problem people were having (altering torpedo depth). Works great, but then hit a snag with the glass. That's a very ingenious way to do it. Have searched to find what puts the curser there, but still unsuccessful.

Thanks re: the glass (I read your other post, too). Like the solutions to most problems, it's simple once you've seen it... but coming up with the solution in the first place took a lot of this:

Same with the implementation of the AOB finder, TDC switch, etc. I was especially proud of the TDC switch.

But enough head-swelling.

I agree that AHK has huge potential in SH3; the problem you have with OLC GUI in hirez could easily be fixed using AHK. I suggest you download AHK and try fixing that problem with this script:

Code:
cScreenCentreX:=511 ;in 1280x1024 this should be 639, or maybe 640
cScreenCentreY:=383 ;in 1280x1024 this should be 511, or maybe 512
#IfWinActive,SilentHunter3
$LButton UP::
MouseGetPos,X,Y
IF(X=cScreenCentreX and Y=cScreenCentreY) {
   MouseMove,0,0,0
}
Send,{Blind}{LButton UP}
MouseMove,X,Y,0
Return
Tinker with cScreenCentreX and cScreenCentreY until you get the pixel that is being clicked.

Thankyou again OLC

Your fix worked, highly pleased.

Had to put settings back to default though.

Nearly forgot OLC

Was working on single torpedo selection by the selector dial in periscope and tdc. Got both dials displayed multi and single at the same time, but could select individual tubes.
Was looking at the SndList before my PC crash.

Downloading AHK now.

I've had a lot of fun tracing your menu_1024_768 and figuring out what your up to. How the hell do you do it in such a short time.

Cheers

The sun can look pretty huge in real life. This picture was taken at 1900 last night:

Sad part is that in real life it looked far far more circular, not as much glare/lens flare! heh But it was pretty large compared to other things.

I do like the smaller sun in game though, that "fixed" shot just above looks fantastic.
