Hey there...

Never played dangerous waters before, but I'm interested in playing a modern submarine simulator. I only play SH3. I would like something similar, but with modern subs.

I have played, long ago, 688I Hunter/Killer, and I enjoyed a lot.

I'd take a look at the screenshot thread, but this game has terrible graphics. Is there any other game similar to 688I Hunter/Killer with decent graphics, like sh3 or sh4?

Agreed the graphics could be better, and that's what made me stay away from the sim for a long time. Then I actually installed DW and tried it, and haven't since had time to complain about the graphics

I think the graphics in DW are good. Not excellent, but good. The fact is, Sonalysts has always improved graphically from game to game. It has been incremental. But I prefer the functionality of these sims, and the overall gaming experience than just pure eye candy. I'm glad Sonalysts put more effort into the sim functions, gameplay, and the excellent looking stations. The outside 3-D graphics more than met my expectations. And DW's gaming experience is top notch.

One funny note. Go back in the archives. When Sonalysts were first releasing screenshots, many people in this forum seemed pretty impressed with the graphics at that time.

Graphics don't make the sim... especially a sim like Dangerous Waters. The emphasis is on the simulation of the stations rather than the 3D camera showing everything around you.
The graphics have more a feel like a computerised naval simulation rather than actually being there but as I said, the sim isn't about graphics. I find quite a bit of immersion in this sim and I love it. I think I play it more than SHIII. It depends on your mood. SHIII is more an adventure game built into a sim format. DW is more a straightforward sim with the simulation being the focus.

Once I thought about text based subsim for Palm. I would only give orders and read reports .. the interface would be simple, but underneath would be full simulation. Haven't given up entirely upon the idea

That would be great !
I imagine myself taking my palm wherever I go, and though playing in real time almost 24 hs a day

I know that the main purpose is the simulation, and I think DW rocks on that department.

But it's like a girlfriend... she is amazing, she has great personality, she's cute, she fits you, she makes you happy, she's a great kisser, but she has a flat butt, like an old woman.

Kinda disappointment, if you know what I mean...
