What the Hell was it??????

U-345 on 5th Patrol IXB - 1.2.40

Position between AN31 & AN34
0430 Hours WO shouted ship spotted. I went on
deck and manned the UZO - Spotted a (Old Type Freighter)
at 1500 M. Did not appear to be armed and not lit.

Went to Navigation to plot approach and all of a sudden we were
taking damage.

Went back on deck with the deck gun crew and observed
the old freighter fireing at us with a zillion deck guns.

Their gun crew was a lot better then mine. We only got three
shots off.

Ordered a crash dive but took several hits. Lots of damage
but all of it was repairable.

Being feerless, as we all are, I ordered a speedy retreat because
neither me or my crew wanted no part of this thing.

I did not have a Q ship activated via JSGM however I may have done
a manual install and forgot about it.

Repairs made we chugged on. COULD THIS HAVE BEEN A Q SHIP????????
