U-122 Hijacked by supply sub captian!
(NYGM 3.0) July 22, 1943 -
Secret Location in the North Atlantic Darksun, the captian of the IXB combat sub U-122, was suprised to find himself in command of the supply sub he had rendezvoused with for repairs and supplies and his own sub commandeered by the supply sub crew. The captian of the supply sub invited the U-122 crew aboard while the supply crew repaired and outfitted the U-122. That was the last the rightful captain ever saw of his beloved u-boat. "U-122 had orders to investigate ******* and harass enemy shipping there," Said captian Darksun, "We stopped at the supply sub for repairs and torpedoes." The repair crew did the job but once it was drawing to an end they tricked the rightful crew of U-122 took command. The watch officer left behind was forced off at gunpoint. No one was harmed during the hijacking. "They told us they had some fresh fish they had just caught that day and invited us to take a break and enjoy a well deserved meal.", said Darksun, "It seemed like a genuine offer. After some days of a rough sea, it was a welcomed break from the war. The repair crew treated us as genuine war heroes. It was all a bit embarassing. It is clear they were just flattering us to get what they wanted." U-122 had already encountered an enemy convoy en-route to it's assigned patrol and had expended it's torpedoes and taken some depth charge damage. The crew of U-122 found the radio on board the supply sub had been critically sabotaged. After more than a week at sea, they managed to effect repairs and send out a distress call. Captian Darksun stated that he could have sailed the supply sub home, but felt it's presence was of vital strategic important. His crew manned the supply sub while waiting for rescue. The current location of U-122 is not known. The crew are presumed traitors and should be captured or killed on sight. "The captain said something about being tired of driving a 'cow' around the sea and he was going to rack up some of his own tonnage. I am not certian which nations shipping he intends to attack. He seemed quite mad. I think it's likely he will attack any ship he can get in his periscope." The U-122 crew are now back at home base taking some well deserved shore leave while a new IXD class boat is outfitted for them. The supply crew spent some time questioning the crew about details of thier patrol. They seemed especially interested in how the captian and crew worked out firing solutions for the torpedoes. They asked questions and took notes. (This really happened to me. I docked at the Milk Cow in the north atlantic [the first one to become available] and when I continued the mission, I was driving the supply sub. No bridge, no periscope, no radio antenna. Four functional forward torp tubes and two back tubes that open but won't fire.)
