Old Dumbo didn't know he'd be back so soon for more help after good guys Von Teufel and the Norwegian Lion hwlped him reinstall GWX 2 again. When I uninstalled GWX several months ago, I left Commander in place to use with SH3 alone. Now it won't work with GWX. When I punch the SH3Cmdr shortcut it says "Invalid file name". So I turned on search and found the following:
SH3CMDR.EXE-14035209.pf in folder C:WINDOWS\Prefetch 20kb pf file SH3CMDR>EXE-185AACDD.pf in folder C:WINDOWS\Prefetch 135kb pf file SH3Cmdr C:Program files\SH3 Commander 1kb config settings SH3Cmdr C:Program files\Ubi\SH3 840kb application SH3Cmdr C:Program files\Ubi\SH3 1kb config settings I sure scattered that program; so can I go into Windows and delete those two Prefetch folders and leave the last two Program files alone? Mother computor warns that clucks like me shouldn't mess with the WINDOWS folders. Hey,guys, someone please tell me how to SAFELY get rid of this mess and download and reinstall a new SH3Cmdr. The one in there now is a current version 3.1.3.185. I've only installed GWX2.0 but if I decide to go up to 2.1 should I do it before I fix Commander? And is it worth it...I'm getting gun shy about loading on more stuff? Thanks, guys, I'm getting real anxious to get these two great mods running again. |

Did you do a complete reinstall as recommended by the GWX team? If so, you may have to redirect Commander to find the new install or just reinstall commander itself.

If I understand you correctly,
You deleted vanilla SH3 but left the SH3 commander installed. Best option is to uninstall all files. remove all directories relating to Sh3 and familiar files. Start over. Install SH3 plus patches. Duplicate the installation by coping it to another new folder call GWX or whatever. Use MultiSH3. re-install SH3 Commander for Vanilla SH3 first. It will ask you where the location of the folder required. After patch SH3 commander. Install GWX 2.0 and then updated it to 2.1 then patch it. Update SH3 Commander for GWX 2.1 I hope it helps.:hmm: |

1. Run Control Panel (left click on the "Start" button - bottom left of your screen ) 2. From Control Panel run "add/remove programs" 3. If SH3 Commander appears on the list of installed programs, use the "Add/remove Programs" facility to uninstall it. 4. Go into your C:\program files and manually delete any SH3 Commander folders left there. I think you can leave the Prefetch files alone for now as a fresh install of SH3 Commander - which is what we're doing - will overwrite them. 5. Run a good clean-up programme (C Cleaner is fast, reliable, easy to use and free.) Make sure you run the Registry Cleaner, as well as the file cleaner. 6. Reboot your PC. Update to GWX 2.1. It really is worth it and if your rig can handle 2.0 you shouldn't have too many problems with 2.1 Download & install the latest version of SH3 Commander( I think it's 3.1.0.177 ) Copy the GWX specific .config files from the download location into your new SH3 Commander /cfg folder ( C:\Program Files\SH3 Commander\Cfg ) Run SH3 Commander. Click on the SH3 Options icon (spanner) and check that the "SH3 path" is the locaation of your SH3 installation. That should do it. Any probs, let us know. |

Von Manteuffel, I have cleaned my registry and deleted all SH3Cmdr folders except the main one residing in the SH3 game folder (839kb size). The reason I have not deleted it is because I can't locate a download site for Cmdr version 3.1.3.185 yet. This is the version in the SH3 game folder, which I understand is the latest.
In case this folder is salvageable these are the error messages when I try to open it: 1. Invalid file name. 2. Access violation at address 004A0A45 in module SH3Cmdr.exe. Read of address 00000008 Thanks again to you and the other knowledgeable guys who have given me advice and let's hope the next post will get me going again with these wonderful mods. |

3.1.3.185 is right there in Wolfehunter's sig. It will take you to his FileFront page, and there you can click on 'JScones Mods', which will take you to the latest Commander.
I have the very next to latest in mine, and I still haven't figured out what that one last tiny change was.

Ah, cool, thanks. Since I never start at sea I guess I can be happy with 3.1.3.184.
