Default Is this possible?

I've encountered a few odd things in my last patrol.

1.After a few dissapointing days in patrol (sunk a coastal freighter for 1800 tonns,
and damaged another, (i was forced to dive because of aircraft, and he limped away))
i've decided to try a harbour raid in Scapa Flow.
At dawn i was aproaching from the east, spotted a destroyer patroling the entrance
so i've dived to periscope depth. He spotted my radio antenna, because my type II
wasn't sumberged enough. It wasn't long before he was joined by another two or three destroyers. Than the party started. Few depth charges exploded so near, and
the uboat was almost doing a barell roll. After evading for at least 2 hours i've managed to shake them off. I couldn't belive that i was still alive after so much depth charging.

2. When returning home i've encountered a large merchant, and fired my last two torps in it. One detonated, but second was a dud. He was dead in the water, refused to sink, and i was out of torpedos. Than i started firing at it with my aa gun.
In the end he finally sank, but as i was sending him to the bottom, british torpedo boat appeared. He was some 300 meters away from me,but strangely he didn't attacked
me.

How could this be? Is it realistic to survive such close explosions, and why that torpedo boat didn't attacked me?
