Default SH IV See through water

Has anybody figured out how to port the SH IV water yet? Its a cool effect seing your boat thru the water and would really bring SHIII closer graphically to IV as it is better at almost everything else.

No. It is extremely unlikely to be possible.

if water is rendered under the surface, it could be possible reducing it's transparency and giving the "surface" .tga a transparency effect.
IF that's how it works.
but i could, and probably am... wrong.

I'm guessing that with all the environment mods out there, if it was possible someone would have found a way to do it by now.

Nah, SH4 uses a completely different water system than SH3. Besides, unless you spend a lot of time in the Med, the water would be completely unrealistic.

My complete understanding is that essentially SH IV is at its core SH III. I assure you it is possible and it can be done. Its not the can it be done that is hard instead it is the how is it done that makes modding difficult. But I am sure if one of the expert modders put there mind to it, that egg will eventually crack

Also why would it be unrealistic? The same water is in the Atlantic as in the Pacific!
It would be an issue of lighting. That Atlantic is not a sunny and bright as the Pacific on most days but it should have some transparency even if it is only 2 feet.

I have read of U-boats being spotted by aircraft even at pariscope depth in the Atlantic. Its all about lighting and angles. The farther the angle down into water the further you should see as less is reflected off the surface.

I hope this gets cracked!

I heard somewhere that more people pee in the Atlantic than the Pacific.

The Atlantic is as murky as hell. The Pacific is as clear as drinking water. The med is something like the Pacific. Persicope depth should be the maximum for a sighting by plane, and that's on a clear day.

As for the amount of urine in the Atlantic, that is false. Most everyone who lives by the Atlantic has access to toilets, rivers, or bushes. Pacific islanders (And most Chinese :rotfl: ) Haven't the time to find some shrubberies to piss on, given that schrubberies are a European invention, as well as herring axes and fences.

Good day to you all!

Well since the major oceans of the world connect it has to be the same water! Maybe just whats in it is differant due to temperatures, Sunlight , currents etc. But the water be sure is the same!

Also about which side gets pissed in more I guess it depends on what side of Mexico has the cheaper Carona's that week!:rotfl:

No, it doesn't work that way. Just because its connected doesn't mean its all the same. Forget currents, the sheer distance water needs to travel to get fomr the Atlantic to the Pacific means that the two will take milleniums to completelymix. Besides which, currents tend to circulate water only within their respective ocean. The Pacific is clear because there are large swatches of it that are devoid of life. Meanwhile, the Atlantic is swarming with plankton, fish that eat plankton, fish that fish, and decomposing remains of said animals. That'll definitely change the water for ya.
