Default Why aren't they reloading torpedos ?

Help !! My crew does not want to reload the torpedoes. I'm on the surface going in circles doing standard and nothing is happening. The crew that is on watch is all healthy and fit. I have automatic speedy reloads set. Even if I had real reloads I've been going in circles for three hours and nothing is happening. I'm ready to do some motivational ass kicking. What's going on !!

Go into the Torpedo room and make sure that the 'auto load' is ticked. You can also enable it on the task bar I believe

Another reason why torps won't load is that the crew is fatigued. It happens when they've been at general quarters for too long.

I think you might have it ! I know I am and that's when the proplem started. I'll go check it out. Thanks I suppose loading torpedos is a rather noisy affair.

I didn't think silent running was an option while on the surface (diesels are pretty loud lol). But seriously, I thought you automatically came out of silent running upon surfacing and the button became gray and unclickable?

It does switch silent running off when you surface in 1.5, but before that it did not. It would not allow you to change while surfaced either, as I recall.

Yes, I really would like to get the option to make a choice of running diesels or electric whilst surfaced.

I chalked tube 2 up to a faulty seal on my last patrol; my 'real life' explanation.... lol

Strangest thing. The crew wouldn't load it nor could I. Tubes 1, 3, 4, 5 & 6 loaded fine. Tried saving and re-loading the save but tube 2 still wouldn't load (there was no damage). I had completed my objectives so I decided to returned to Pearl. Everything is fine now. Really kind of a cool experience.... strange things happen at sea!

Happy Hunting!

What is all this talk of patch 1.5 doing all these fixes. From what I've read it's just a German voice fix.

I agree that when you surface it should automatically void out silent running. It might have also been wise to provide a prompt when attempting to manually move torpedos into the tubes that one needs to stop silent running in order to make reloads happen. Of course there's nothing in that worthless manual. I suppose you are supposed to intuitively realize what the problem is. I must be an idiot.

I don't recall submerging when I had AA guns manned and then resurfacing and AA guns were automatically manned.

And what's with that red light on the Torpedo / ship position indicator. The one on the left side. Light goes on , light goes off. What the heck does that mean. I don't even mess with that button anymore since it doesn't seem to mean anything.

I just finished a mission in my career to the Marshall Islands. Where there were no enemy ships. What a waste of time. Just what I want to do is cruise for 30 minutes and then find nothing to do but turn around and go back trying to avoid being bombed by aircraft.

Why am I being sent to sink merchant shipping or drop off spys when the briefing is telling me that the battle of Midway is taking place and submarines will provide a major role or that the battle for Guadacanal is going to require submarines to surround the island. Everyone else is having fun while I'm off in the boonies dropping off spys. Thanks

I read in 'Iron Coffins' that even a dropped spanner against the floor panels could even be heard!

Well you could radio home for new orders :hmm:

But clearly your focusing on the 'flaws' of which there are quite a few I agree. However in the meantime I prefer to just enjoy the game for what it is and hope that possibly some of the cosmetic and other inaccurcies get fixed. Remember when the screws (propellers) turned the wrong direction? Fortunatly there is a great deal good about the game that keeps me comming back.

1.5 fixed much more than 'just adding german voices' but Ill leave it up to you to find and read the patch notes.

I re-read my post and yes it does sound negative. I didn't mean to sound so down on it. Just a few peculiarities. I only make those comments as ways in which it might be improved. I think the game is great and can't stop playing it. In fact it's so perfect that any flaw in it stands out. Gee, if only that wart wasn't on the end of her nose. I'll down load 1.5.
