Default engine upgrade question

ive read that there should be a "MAN" engine upgrade available but no matter what year i start it isnt on the engine upgrade list. im runnin gwx 2.1. does anyone else have the same problem?

on a side note, under the sonar equipment list below S-Gerat there is an option "excellent visibility". dunno if this is just a graphic anomoly but ive never noticed it before. does everyone else have this?

IIRC, the engine upgrade was deleted from gwx 2.1 for some reason.

I believe that all wartime U-boats had MAN engines installed from the start, there was no "upgrade" IRL. Oh, and with all U-boats I mean the conventional types, not the types like the Walther U-boat.

That's correct. Type II and Type VIIA had no superchargers. VIIA top speed was around 17 knots. Every boat from the VIIB on came with them installed. VIIB top speed was 17.9 knots, VIIC was 17.7 knots.

The engine upgrade in the game is totally bogus. No u-boat ever made the kind of speed the upgrade gives them. That's why it was removed from GWX 2.1.

I believe that engine did not make a scrape of deferents in the game that is to say I saw no deferents.

So I guess this means that I won't be doing 20 kts surfaced at flank speed anymore.

thats weird. the reason why i asked is cos ive joined wolves at war. ive was told to upgrade my sub with the "MAN" engine upgrade. when i said i couldnt see the upgrade i was told that it should be there are they all have it. and that was after me sayin that i use gwx 2.1.

i can only assume that the guy who organizes thing over there doesnt use gwx.

fair enough, thanks for clearin this up

If you open the GWX manual to page 83 of 644 there is a small page spread that says what has been said here.

There is also a picture of a GW supercharger if you are interested.

I have this funny slogan as well in one of my installations. Looks like a part of the wheather report swapped over during the install.

Oh no. Its actually that the upgrade screen and the weather report share text entries.

When GWX 2.1 changed the weather report over to read out as visibility rather than fog... it meant that words like "unlimited" popped up on the upgrade screen rather than none.
