Default Snow and icebergs

I was curious,is there snow and icebergs to be found in SHIII?.The reason I ask is because I have not had a patrol yet near the Arctic routes in my campaign so far.Early on in my game I had the usual patrols around Britain, now I seem to be posted around Western Africa (F.Town) and S.America.It is now April 42,and my current patrol is in EE65.I have'nt even had a patrol on the US east coast either, but I am sure it will come soon enough.
I would love to get the chance to drive hard through snow and blizzards, while keeping watch for dangerous icebergs!
Sorry if all this may have been discussed by other people before, but I only joined the forum today.

If all goes well on my current patrol, and I have enough fuel left,I may take a quick trip south towards Antarctica, least then I will find out if there is snow and ice

Honestly, I have seen neither in campaign mode, even on patrols around Russia. I don't believe snow is modeled on the land at all, and certainly not as falling precip. You could model snow to fall instead of rain, but then it wouldn't rain. That means in a patrol during summer, or in warm southern waters, it would snow too. Not very realistic.

Icebergs are in the game as random enviromental units, but you may have to take a look in mission editor to find out where they will be and when. I have them set in mine, but it's very rare that you see them.

Greetings,

I believe the information about the snow is correct. Precipitation only shows up as rain. As for the icebergs, they are out there. I've been playing SH3 for a little over two years, almost always have a patrol going, and I just saw my first bergs in the last two weeks. Just north of Iceland they showed up on the map as a small slow moving convoy. Once I got into visual range, my jaw dropped

There have been successful attempts to mod in snow, but the problem is that all precipitation ends up looking like snow (such as in a squall off the coast of Puerto Rico).

Instead of travelling all the way down there why not try a patrol in Grid AE (ie. AE 37). You'll probably see some icebergs & may sink some tonnage too.

Just a thought...

First time I saw an iceberg, I heard it first. Was underwater and sonar picked up a "slow moving merchant." Excited, I set a course for intercept.

When I raised scope to ID it, I --> :rotfl: It was a 'berg.

Only other time I've seen them was just a few days ago. A group of 5 I think. I snapped a pic:

I still haven't seen dolphins or whales. :p
