Default Silly Question, Avoiding Narrowband Detection?

Am I correct in assuming that there is no way (barring SSP considerations) to avoid/dampen your sub from showing up on narrowband frequencies (since this is modeled to be your "machine noise" and not dependent on speed?)

Thanks!

It depends on the platform and the detection gear of an opposing platform. Likewise, speed does have some influence on this detection. Even if the machinery signature is detected, the contact may remain ambiguous without other data. Mods, such as LWAMI, also alter detection rates.

Passive (including NB) detection range has been proportional to speed since DW 1.0 Hotfix.

Which sub is the most advanced, Sonar wise?

in reality? Well, guess it's a secret.

As for DW: Depends, in stock DW i think it's the Seawolf. For LWAMI or RA it could be different as they change the sensors of most existing platforms and even add new sensors/platforms.

Even with mods I reckon it's the seawolf. I always manage to detect with that. But with an LA or an Akula or Kilo I have problems.

Well, i think with RA it is probably the Virgina class SSN, or some of the newer, uprated Akula IIs. A lot of new subs were introduced, so it's hard to say.
Also, if you ask for AI controlled subs the Yasen or Astute class could also come to mind.

I can pretty much confirm a lot of the American subs have great sonar. MOST of the Russian and British ones. Source: Extensive testing of RA and stock.
