Default Refit at sea?

Is it possible to refit or reload torpedos and fuel at sea via a tender rather than go all the way back to Australia or Pearl?

Sort of semi-related and I don't want to start another thread:

I don't get torpedoes when I refit, why not?

I'm not sure this is your problem but it's a guess - you will need to tell your crew members to fill the tubes - they'll move torpedoes from the reserve to the tubes, then you can refit again to fill the tubes.

#1 No. It's only possible at ports marked with an anchor symbol, and when playing as Germans also in ships marked with some other(=I don't remember) symbol.

#2 Refit only fills your torpedo reserves. If your reserves are full you won't get any torpedos. To get the full complement you have to refit twice(refit -> reload tubes -> refit again). If you don't get ANY torpdeos AT ALL, then I have no idea.

Cheers

Ahh! That explains my refit where I couldn't find the island ... must've been a ship. I think the symbol was the same for me though, but it was on top of a auxiliary cruiser so it was sort of hard to see.

Now that I think about it, you're absolutely right. The symbol is the same, and there are US supply ships too. One used to be at Mios Woendi, though I don't remember if it's stock or the result of a mod. I had completely forgotten about them.

I know you were asking about the way it works in the game, and not real life, but in the real war tenders did not cruise out to sea to meet subs. Their main use was as a substitute in a place that had no port facilities, such as Midway, but the fact was that even in a major naval base you were more likely to do routine resupply at a tender. The docks were reserved for major repairs.

When our destroyer was at Subic Bay we always tied up alonside a tender - never at the dock.

In fact, now that I think of it, the tenders were fully equipped with repair shops and welding facilities. They were equipped to handle any repair that didn't require a drydock.

But no, they never went out to sea to give aid. They usually were the port repair facility.
