Default Could someone explain WHAT happened..

Okay just a quick question..

I recently decided I would waste some renown and load my 7 & 8 tubes with the homing "cutie" torpedo. Low and behold I find myself virtually ambushed by an IJN convoy of a couple CV's and BB and at least 3 DD's. I say ambushed because they approached me from a bearing of about 170-175 degrees and my radar operator apperently fell asleep. (guess who just found his way onto the Damage Control Team!) As 3 DD's closed within 2000 yards I let the "cuties" fly and accidently let a Mk14 go (used W to change tubes not E as I should with TMO, in refrence to my aft tubes) I watched the Mk14 fly off and apperently the "cutie" tracked it. Leaving only 1 "Cutie" left. It went out about 500 yards then turned towards me..

In all the fury of dodging the largest deoth charging I've ever taken I hear "torpedo Impact"...after the battle...I discover this.

Now, I'm no expert but how could a 95LB torpedo bring down a DD. I suppose the Mk14 could have hit but the Gyro on it would have been insane and I just find it highly improbable. Anyone care to explain or provide some insight??

The DD may have moved within the torp's path and the hit may have been where the ammo compartment was.

That looks like Trigger Maru Overhauled for 1.5; mine has the same graphics.

I actually don't have a problem with a Cutie sinking a DD. That's what they were made to do--go for the noisiest area of a ship which is screws or engine spaces. A big hole in your engine spaces lets in a lot of water...

First Off, yes it is TMO for 1.5

I was thinking the same thing about the engine compartment. Either way, he went down by my torpedo so I'll take it.

Thought it had turned for me though...

Were the seas heavy?

I've hit a DD right in the bow, in heavy seas, and just watched as it snowplowed under the waves.

Might've just been a "Flukey" hehe

The cuties head for the noise maker (props) so if they hit at the stern of the ship, they could possibly set off the depth charge rack and cause a bunch of trouble.

Since we have to deal with the damn depth charges, so should they!

Truthfully, I didn't bother to get the weather...he or they (3 DD's) were kind on top of me before I got any notice so I snap fired the cuties and dove to 400.

Never even thought of that...but it makes since. His friend certainly made up for it. I got Depth charged for at least 2 hours.
