Default Darn it!!!

I just burned up some fuel moving into a firing position on a task force, to dive, begin moving into a perfect position and wondering why I can't identify any of the carrier's successfully in the Japanese section of the ID book.

Only to notice the flag flying from the top of the warships: American flags!!! I was in the perfect position for a torpedo strike...but I can only imagine the reception i'd get from the base Admiral at Brisbane when I said "oh um sir....I hate to break it to you but I accidently torpedoed and sunk one of our own carriers"

Was pretty cool though to surface among all those ships and see them sailig along. Just a shame it was an American fleet....I WAS in the perfect position to bag me my first carrier.

Oh well, better luck next time I guess

Well with the graphics the game packs, you can really enjoy the ride!!! You can also try sinking the carrier ans seeing how the rest of the TF reacts.
Interesting?
(save before experimenting eh!)

This made me wonder what kind of "hotwater" those who sunk American subs with friendly fire found themselves in. Seems like coverup was the general order of the day....but then it was wartime...so...

One especially grevious incident involved a boat spotted traveling in an established "safe lane." The plane attacked and missed but called in destroyer support which managed to sink the sub with all hands...even as they were sending out morse code friendly recognition signals by sonar. The sonar operator aboard the destroyer claimed in defense " I thought it was a Jap Trick...I though they were trying to interfer with my sonar reception.

But you are probably right...writing off a carrier might be a slightly more difficult prospect.

Yep. That was the Seawolf that was sunk by a DE. And it didn't take them long to sink the boat either. Imagine if the Japanese had had the ASW capabilities the Allies had...
