Default Whats the best Torpedo settings

Ok, Whats Best, I was wondering say in rough waters, Fast or slow? Impact or magnetic? is there a rule of thumb that certain settings are better than others for different weather conditions?

Cheers

This is what I normally do.As standard I would set all shots to fast,as you won't be going closer than about 500m,and you are still in an optimal position at this range with fast torps.
In rough weather never use mag tips, you risk them detonating too early due to the fast movement in the sea.Use impact in storms.
This information of course is for the gas torps, still one of my favourites when used right, due to their fast speeds. If you are at about 500m and he spots your trail he is still doomed, unless he is very fast himself and he might evade it.

Electrics

As a rule of thumb, early on in the war never use mag tips with these,as they had faulty tips and sometimes prematurely exploded.Very annoying.
Also, keep these torpedoes set to about 1 or 2m,as they also had problems keeping their depth.
I think after the Norwegian campaign all these faults were rectified, and the electrics probably then made the gas torps obsolete. The only problems I have with the E-torps is their slow speed,I much prefer the extra speed.

Has this helped?

I agree on all points , except the following...

I would use "medium". The speeds Slow/Medium/Fast give you 30, 40 and 44 knots respectively. Going from Slow to Medium is a 33% speed increase. Going from 40 to 44 is a 10% speed increase. The extra risk of early exploding for a meagre 10% is not worth it in my opinion. Thus, I'd stick to "medium".

Also, if I am putting a final shot into a dead-in-the-water crippled ship, I'd only ever use slow. Again... it is about minimising risk.

T1's exclusively and set to impact until March 41....then electrics with a spattering of Falkes as the war nears its conclusion.

In mildly rough weather (7-9 meter waves) you can use a G7a (T1) with the pistol set to magnetic if you set the speed to slow. This seems to lessen the chance of premature detonation somewhat.

:hmm:
I guess it all boils down to the immediate situation (target speed etc),your own personal style, and of course the amount of risk you are willing to take,or lack of risk for that matter.

Cheers.

Close. I like to keep some electrics on board for convoy attacks. It gives you a few extra seconds before being detected. They're also handy for shots on unsuspecting escorts. But generally, the increased speed and the forgiving effect it has on your aim, is too much of an advantage to ignore. Although I am finding that with the latest GWX, and reliable Type IIIs, magnetic fuses appear to do more catastrophic damage more frequently than the impact fuses I've relied upon for so long.

T1-Fast-Impact-1M (Most Conditions, under 800 distances during good visibility), Except Hunt I/II/III in rought water)
T3-Magnatic-Keel Shot (Calm Sea, daylight, good visibility over 800 distance)
Homer-Magnatic (against DD's)

2 careers with 2mil GRT each don't lie.

Click on the bottom line/link of my sig. That will take you to my GWX2.0 and 2.1 FF page.

Starting at the bottom and moving/scrolling upwards are all the files (file sizes included).

Clicking on the GWX website (top link of my sig) will enable you to read the installation instructions.

You will need the GWX2.0 exe + the 7 bin files and the GWX2.1 exe.
