Recon missions

Just out of curiosity i've gotten a recon missions to scout out hiroshima port, i photographed a shiboku fleet carrier, got mission complete and just as i was sailing out they decided to start up and head for me, so i figured i need to make a distraction as i make my get away, so i shoot four aft torpedoes into the carrier sinking it, whole 20000 tons now my question is, will i get mission complete still or did i mess it up?

On your map: If the objective "star" has turned from golden to grey then mission complete.
On the captains log/message pad: There are three tabs. One is your mission status.

Are you sure they were hunting you or just leaving the port! Anyway after sinking the carrier it doesn't really matter. You're on the most wanted list!!!!
I don't think you get "punished" for sinking your photo targets (after you take the photos).

Well i fudged the report the a bit, i survived over 1000 depth charges while making my escape over Mt Fuji.
