I just had lazar eye surgery done (both eyes ) Number of days I had to wait from my appointment to the surgery :2 days. I like our health care system thank you. The funny thing about all those "free health care systems, they're not free, because the gov't takes the money from your pay check.

Too bad it won't shock them into changing their beliefs. They will just say "tweak it" instead of "burn it and build another one".

Precisely.

Its bad in Canada. I know I live there. But private clinics are only avaible for those who can afford it. It why I avoid them as much as possible. Anyhow There not even safe. Ingrown Hospital viruses. Its safer to do your own bandaging up at home. You'll live longer hehehehe.

Ya your right about the government taking the money. most of it they pocket. No one can prove it but we all know it happens here.

Okay, go on and throw the first stone while sitting in a glass house. I know two other cases from the US like this:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/7485910.stm

Recently, there was a thread on crimes being carried out in the presence of witnesses who did not help, and this example is not a bit different. A society where people live whom are so indifferent like to be seen here should have other worries than mocking about the health system of it's neighbours.

This seems like a typical liberal view to me. How, exactly can this be fixed? Pass a law that people have to care? I have no doubt that most people are most inclined to whatever action benefits them most. The key is harnessing that power through incentive. You can't legislate morality any more than you can legislate stupidity.
Tragic as it is, there will always be a$$holes.

Might not be free... but could well work out cheaper.

You guys pay insurance premiums in the event of you needing an operation or treatment or whatever. The deductions from the pay cheque are variable... the higher earners pay a little more the lower earners pay less. Is there any variability in health insurance premiums to account of income?

Also the idea of taking out an insurance policy... I wouldn't be comfortable with that. To the insurance people you are a thing... a potential loss of profit. Insurance companies like nothing better than to not pay out.

So I like our health care system too. I just wish it was run better, and was of a higher standard... because that is what our Labour politicians have promised over the last decade....

Part of the issue with our Health Care System is the failure to properly anticipate the shortages with regards to all of the boomers retiring, this is one of the reasons for the long wait times in some of the professions, surgeries being one. Related to this is the loss of leadership with those boomers retiring, that is not replaced easily and has contributed to the situation ( vision, ability to problem solve ) here.

A bigger issue though are the users themselves of the system, instead of taking some personal responsibility for their own health, they view hospitals as the place to go to fix all of their problems. I have been to outpatients on more than one occasion and most of the folks there did not need to be. This kind of stuff is a huge drain on the system and takes away from those who really need the care.

Up until the last 3-5 years though, I have been more than happy with our system.
