Default Confused: Which Mod to use and which to merge with another?

Hi,

I've been using SH3 for month and merged the rfb with the ff and some other mods. I bought SH4 with the addon. No I'm confused about how the (great) community is going on to mod the program. My Problem is, that most add-ons (TM for example) don't write within the readme why file xyz is included, and what is changed. So it's very difficult to know, which mod is the best for me.

Are there any tips which mods to install and use? Which works best with each other. I'm playing at the most hardest level (but with ext. view. have tweaked the cfg a bit to stay at 100% realism). I wanna have a great KI and realistically damage model. And I'm going to play both, the american and the german, boats.

I'm very happy for every tip; thanks

greetz out of germany, Stefan

PS: please forgive the bad english...

Hi Stefan,

Welcome On Board.

First you have to download JSMGE, maybe you know it from your SH3 Sessions.

http://www.users.on.net/%7Ejscones/s.../products.html

Then make Room on your Harddisk and download the Modifikations for SH4 that you maybe prefer if you read their discription in this Forum. Read the Threads well, in the first Posts you can read which Modifikation works with the other and which not. Its better to try by Yourself which Modifikations you like more or which Combination of them. It maybe takes a Time to find it out, but with JSMGE you will have no Problems to Install/ Remove the Mods.

Otherwise you can Contact me per PM, i´m also German and it´s not easy for me to explain Somethings in english too.

You could start with this;

patch to 1.4 or 1.5 then
add TMO for the version above (ensure you use the correct one). It is my understanding TMO has enviromental mods built in along with a lot of other features.
Then add RSRDC if you want a more historical approach to actual Japanese shipping.

There are other mods that do the same as the above, but the ones above work fine together and are great mods.

Hey, thanks.

I've just installed TMO, RSRD, OM and some old SH3 SoundMod's for real "DasBoot" german voices and ambience. Works fine, but have some probs with the sim at all.
