"Papillon" - Jerry Goldsmith

Loved the soundtrack and the film itself.

I always remember Mr. Goldsmith as the composer of the Man From U.N.C.L.E. theme; but it's a remarkable legacy he left us:

Jerry Goldsmith for me always was the more diverse, creative composer, when comparing him to the other great old man of soundtrack composing during the late 70s to early or mid 90s, John Williams. Nevertheless, for me both belong to what formed the mood of the 80s, when I used to go to the movies quite often. Some great yeras I had in the 80s, really, life was wide, and free, and the time was "echt flippig". Goldsmith and Williams approached music much in comparable way and style.

Today, John Barry has a style that is unique and can't be mistaken with somebody else, too, and he somewhat continues the tradition of this certain type and style of symphonic soundtracks. Goldsmith rules!

The one I do not like for he always seem to turn a symphonic score into a pathetic military marching band, is Zimmer. I also do not like the bad habit to have a classical score , but at the end, when the credits are running, a modern pop piece is injected although it totally breaks with the musical style of the first 90 minutes - just to give the studio that damn hit single to sell.
