No Type XXI career allowed in GWX 2.1

Ahoy there!

I was thinking about starting a late war career (July 1944) with the Type XXI. So I load up with SH3 Commander 3.1.0.177 and I'm in the game. After setting up a few settings in the career screen, I wait for about 10 min and the progress bar is at 90% --- CTD!

Help!

Pentium 4 2.0 GHz
1024 Mb of RAM
GeForce FX 5500
Seagate Barracuda ST380021A 80 GB

I know it's a piece of junk of technology but any assistance is greatly appreciated!

The timing is ironic because I just got inclined to try an XXI campaign tonight - also beginning in July 1944 - and it all worked fine for myself.

However the snorkel is a homing beacon for aircraft.
