Default Slowwwwwwww mission loads???

I have a dual SLI video card setup in my computer, but only 1 Gig of memory. Would bumping up the memory speed up the mission load times? I wait over 5 minutes usually for a mission to load initially.

Welcome aboard kaleun!
Are you using GWX?
If you do, search the forum a bit, there is another thread about your subject.

If not, close all running programs before running the game, this should free up some memory.

About par for the course I'd say, if your using GWX that is. My load times are about 6-7 minutes but that's with the 'Merged Campaign' applied, which I understand adds to load times.

Plan ahead. Load up the game, start loading your career and then go make something to eat and drink.

I have two gigs of RAM and I get about a five-minute load time as well. GWX has a huge amount of things it has to load, so it takes awhile.

I had to stop dinking softdrink while I waited for GWX to load on my computer, as having a sugar high while trying to doge destroyers is not a good thing!

I've been told it's all about how much RAM you have.

I have 8min load times on 1GB.

It also depends on other factors.
The Sh3 engine and files are, after all 3 years old!
It's not the most up to date way to do things.
But it does a fairly good job if you think about it.

If you want instant gratification?
Go to any 'Fast Food' place and compare times.

There is no ' Fast Food' place anymore!!

Size of the mod's files isn't really the problem here with most computers (my computer, for instance, can run Crysis on almost full settings; it's definitely not the mod size!). My load times on GWX are about 5 minutes each (after I've selected a mission and clicked the "Play" button). That's mostly in part due to the fact that Silent Hunter III doesn't take advantage of dual core processors. Otherwise, I'd have it loaded in about a minute or less.

It takes about 9-10 min for me and I have 1Gb of RAM.

But during this time, I should be more "productive", like go eating something!

The file name should be GWX21.exe and be 162 590kB in size.

As for the loading time, with 1gig of ram I can go make some Coffey and sandwiches while waiting

oh my, when I was testing GWX I used a 1ghz AMD processor, admittedly with 1gb of ram, it used to take 5 minutes to start the game and 20 minutes to load up the patrol...

you kids have it so easy these days...:rotfl:

I generally went and did the dishes or my shopping while the game was loading...

Never timed it...but I would guess around the five to seven minute mark.....I have two gigs of ram...run FSautostart to begin with...I think the number of mods I am running might have something to do with it also.....but like someone else said......Well worth the wait!!!!
