I have read numerous sources that indicated that the periscopes were not usable when the speed of the boat was above six knots. because of the hydrodynamic resistance against the periscope above six knots, vibration could damage the periscope.
Is it possible to tie submerged speed to periscope damage? for example, if the player has the periscope extended, and speed exceeds six knots it will go yellow. just a thought.... a very nit-pikcy thought but there you have it. (honestly dont expect such a mod to be made... just wonder if it is possible)

I believe this was not an issue with the attack periscope (correct me if I'm wrong). The observation scope though had no helicoil wires around its shaft so speed could be a problem there. Same goes for schnorchel I suppose.

I think that is a very good point!
I would also like to see a periscope wake mod so that in external view a distinct wake can be seen. Kurtz

hey Jim... with the GWX crew being tied up with GWX4 that could prove difficult to find someone.
but here is another question. What are the requirments for GWX4... or have any been published yet. I heard through the grapevine it will be SH4 patched to latest with the U-boat mission ad on installed. do you know? thanks

However, as pointed out by Kpt Lehmann shortly before his retirement and since echoed/repeated by the new GWX Project Manager, Privateer.....there are to be few if any snippets or announcements prior to release. What I can and will say is....work is underway as has already been announced by Privateer. I do possess SH4 and the U-boat add on and consider them essential to my future gameplay. ![]() |

i wasnt trying to get any vital information from you really (you know that) but as i dont own the U-boat missions ad on i was curious as to whether or not it would be a worth while investment. but, since you apparently consider it to be vital to your own personal enjoyment of the game. i guess i will go ahead and get a copy of it ![]()
