What are some good WWII novels. Im looking for books on the european theatre, can be airforce or infantry. Im especially intersted in books from the german point of view. A little bit of love story wont kill it for me either.

The forgotten soldier By Guy Sajer is a VERY good book about an half-french half-german (never can remember what they're called) guy who joins the Wermacht and get's to the GrossDeutch Division and fights on the Eastern front.
The Finnish translated book was ~800 pages so, it is a real brick, but trust me, it sucks you in. Lot of sources have said the it is an fiction, but other says it is true, including soldiers from the GrossDeutch Division. It portraits the war and the horrors in pretty great detail. And he acknowledged to the reader that what it was like cant be written to text, nor be told, it has to experienced. On a scale of 1-10, I give it 20. Fiction or not, very good book. ![]() |

x2 for The Forgotten Soldier.
Another one that wasn't bad was "Pawn Of War" by Rudi Stiebritz. Covers 1942 through to after the war when he was sent to a POW camp in Siberia. I was fortunate enough to meet the guy 5 or so years ago and get my copy signed. I believe he lives in QLD now. Some others: http://www.amazon.com/Black-Edelweis..._sim_b_title_5 http://www.amazon.com/AT-LENINGRADS-..._sim_b_title_2 http://www.amazon.com/Sniper-Eastern..._sim_b_title_1 Haven't read them myself, but I've heard they are all supposed to be good. |
