Are Campaign Patrol Missions date dependant???

Another words does the Campaign assign patrol missions based on the date?

I'm really getting sick of patrolling the Japan Sea in early/mid 1942....

When the rest of the war is all around me...

Is there a way to get a higher probability of getting a Guadacanal Patrol during the battle of Guadacanal.

I see that the Campaign Patrol missions have a start date but what about an ending date so I'm not stuck rescuing pilots at Midway on dates well before/after the battle.
