Default ATI antialiasing issue

All of a sudden SH3 GW2.1 no longer has ANY antialiasing. Everything is jagged.

I installed GWX2.1 and had a couple of missions that were fine so I know that is not it.

I have d/led the newest ATI drivers/control center to no avail.

This is the weird part, Everything on the PC is fine except for SH3. BUT if I run SH3 (all jaggied up) then go out and run say FS2004 it also has no anti-aliasing. I go into the ATI control center and change AA from say 4 to 6 then back to 4, hit apply and AA starts working again in all games except SH3 UNTIL I run Sh3 again and knock AA "off" for my whole system! LOL

Any help would be appreciated, got a couple of days in trying to fix this so far and in reading up on it I see this can be an issue with Nvidia cards but not with ATI.

BTW I am also running the sim in 1600x1200 using the .dll fixy form a long time ago.

THANKS in advance, I am totally lost here!

Hmmm, I have an ATI 1960 Pro card, use the Hi-Res mod, AF and AA works fine, certainly has nothing to do with GWX 2.1, are you sure "Application Controlled" is not ticked?

Likewise I use force settings in Catalyst, no problems.

I've had this. The problem varies from one driver set to the next, as do the fixes. Currently, using Catalyst 8.4 drivers, I can fix it by:

1) Running the game in a different resoultion to my desktop resolution, or
2) After starting a mission, alt+tab to desktop, open the CCC and change one of the 3D settings, and click Apply. Then I go back to SH3 and I have AA again.

Don't know if that'll work for you but give it a try.

Thanks, thinking about I did update vid card drivers recently.

Will try the different resoloution thing, since I have been running this sim I CANNOT ALT-TAB to desktop, screen just blinks and I stay in SH3.

I may try the Omega's as well, it has to be a vid card thing.

To the others I am glad everything is working fine on your end, it is NOT here at the moment.

Will report back!

BTW

ATI X850XT PCI-E The drivers dated like mid-April 08.

Onelifecrisis you are a Silent Hunter god!

Thanks a million.

Did this to fix it. I had the sim and the desktop in 1600x1200. Changed the desktop 1st, no fix BUT I was able to task switch out of SH3 for 1st time. Tried changing a AA setting but still no fix.

Went back to 16x12 on the desktop and switched the sim to 1380x1024 (I think), reloaded the sim and it is NOW FIXED.

Thanks a million buddy, the thing was practically unplayable without AA especially after knowing what it should look like.

Appreciate the help, you were exactly right.
