Default GWX 2.1 what ever happened to....

Downloaded 2.1 today and its great its finally here but...

What happened to the free cam on deck and the destabilised deck gun.
They were the changes i was most looking forward to and they dont seem to have made it into 2.1!

I was looking forward to wandering about on deck and i can still hit ships 5-7km away with the deck gun with no trouble even in choppy seas

The Free Cam Mod had a fundamental issue that meant it could not be included within GWX. This issue was initially described and explained by it's creator. The GWX team could not remove/fix the issue so the decision was taken to exclude it. While I can't recall the exact reason myself, I personally like this mod and if I'm correct in that it was an alignment/placement issue, I can live with it myself as an optional mod within JSGME, just for cool screenshot purposes.

As for the destabalised Deck Gun. I'm not sure TBH. I'm sure someone will offer some insight into why it was removed.

The problem was that with the free cam mod enabled you loose interactivity with the crew on deck.
I've made about a dozen different versions but I couldn't find tou how to overcome the problem, perhaps someone in the future could bring up a solution.

Ref, by interactivity you mean you could not click on the crew? Is that the only issue?

Actually, I never click on the crew at all. Maybe there is a vast majority of players that don't use this feature as well. Is it possible to release this mod as an optional one?

Too bad for the destabilized deck gun. I was really hoping for it as the major challenge.

If that's the only problem, then I'm a happy kaleun as well. I too never click on the crew.

As far as the deck gun goes, I never shoot it myself, so it doesn't bother me at all.

We don't like to break old stuff in order to add new stuff.

In addition to loss of bridge crew interaction, the free cam mod caused the watch officer to periodically freeze his scanning cycle... and as he represents one of the more powerful visual sensors aboard, exclusion of the mod was logical.

The deck gun IS DESTABILIZED as long as you are not manning it personally!

We were unable to destabilize the deck gun viewport and retain its magnification zoom levels at the same time... ergo we excluded it. We apologize on bended knee. Will you ever forgive us?

Bummer thats not good. I was soooooo long hoping to have the Freecam view. Why do I need to click on bernhard and friends when all I have to do is hit him to get his attention? hehehe its ok.

But still, the mod should be released as an optional for those who want to use it, with just a readme file together with it saying that "this is not compatible, use at your own risk".

We are all aware of the issues that it may cause, but still we can use for fun, for single missions, to hit some screenshots or make a video. Besides, someone might even crack the issues and fix them in the future. This comunity have proven dozens of times that it can perform miracles from time to time.
