Default error when running GWX 2.0

I'm new to this forum and just found my way to the great world of SH3, but I have problems when running GWX 2.0 on my computer. When start it up, I get the grey wolves intro and the game loads up perfectly but the menu won't open properly. This is how my screen looks:

I have installed this version on an other comp before and it works great. So I don't know where this problem comes from. I have windows vista on my comp, but I did everything you guys sad before installing GWX 2.0. Maybe it has something to do with my grafics card NVIDIA GEFORCE 8600GT. I also did install the latest drivers for that. And i did run the frontline driver tool, but it couldn't find anything. BTW SH3 works fine on my computer.

I hope someone can help me, because the GWX version did look great and i really wanna play it.

PS. In that screen I still can move my mouse. If I click somewhere on the screen I get the to see the credits, and if i hit ESC I can choose 'yes' or 'no' to exit the game. But that's it. I really hope someone can help, because I didn't found anyone else having the same problems.

Welcome to Subsim.

When installing SH3 & GWX on a Vista machine, there are a few additional important steps to take to ensure the correct installation.

http://gwx.mysite.orange.co.uk/

Visit the GWX homepage and follow the Vista installation instructions found on the FAQ page.

I think your problem stems from file permissions & admin rights.

Come back to us if it doesn't work.

1. Unistall Silent Hunter III =>YES
2. Delete the residual Silent Hunter III installation folder and all contents =>yes
3. Delete (or at least rename) your “MyDocuments\SH3” save game folder =>yes
4. Delete the “C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Pr ogram Files\SilentHunterIII”
folder and all its contents, if it exists. =>yes
5. Reinstall Silent Hunter III. The GWX Team recommends you install it outside of the “\Program
Files” folder =>yes
6. Right-click the 1.4b patch “.exe” file and select “Run as administrator” =>not nessesary, file is in download
7. Install the patch => same as 6
8. Verify you installed the patch correctly by running the game. =>game works perfectly
9. If the game fails to run, download and install the StarForce Vista update from the StarForce
developers’ site: http://www.star-force.com/support/sfdrvup.zip. =>did, but didn't find files to delete
10. You can now run optional tools like SH3 Commander, JSGME, SH3Gen, etc. provided you run
them as an “Administrator” after you have installed them. => did run the GWX 2.0 installer and shortcut as admin

I still have the same problem

Good Start.

Next step:

Using MD5 Mate (found on the same FAQ page), check the integrity of the downloaded GWX files.

If they come back as OK, check to see if you have the K-Lite Codec pack installed, if so follow these instructions:

1) Start
2) All Programs
3) K-Lite Codec Pack
4) Configuration
5) Codec Tweak Tool
6) Disable the ffdshow filter
