Default Deadly greed

http://www.spiegel.de/international/...549187,00.html

allowing vital, essential commodities being turned into objects of financial speculation always sounds like an extremely bad idea to me. In this case, the outcome is a desaster and illustrates all the unscrupulousness, shamelessness and contempt for humanity the current finance and economic system is capable of.

Another aspect in this context are the criminal machinations of Monsanto.

Some days ago, in german medias, former health ministre and current consumer minister Seehofer form the conservative CSU party also reminded of the infamous role of the incredible Monsanto corporation that holds 90% of the world'S patents on genetically manipulat6ed plants and seeds, saying that they are withholding the deliveries on unmanipulated seeds to artificially create a food crisis that makes stupid unknowing politicians and people yell for the wonderweapon: genetical manipulated seeds by Monsanto that wellmeaningly would agree to contribute it's share to solve the food crisis - and raisjng it's profits by projected 500-600% by that. the gene-plants by Monsanto are not popular in germany and vast parts of europe. That has not hindred this often criminally acting company to bring all it's guns into position to enforce European agriculture to start buying their seeds by using bribery, intimidation, mud throwing campaigns against governments and ministre, contaminating areas with genetically changed seeds and than starting lawsuits agai8nst the farmers on whose fields accoridng plants were to be found - for violation of patent laws. In Soi8th America, they pratcice like this excessively, and swarms of Monsanto agents examine farmers fields for signs of Monsanto plants - that by wind and water flowing get transported over larger distances, ending up on the fields in areas whose governments, farmers and communties never have bought any monsanto seeds at all. The infamous killer seeeds - seeds that only produce plants and corn that cannot reproduce by itself, also are an Monsanto invention in order to force farmers to buy a full set of seeds every year, instead of being able to build a reserve by themselves that is used for sowing next year. The number of farmers and small villages that have been ruined or were driven into total dependency and financial slavery in South Africa are not exactly known, but observers and reaserahcers on this say the number ranks in the high thousands at least. I rate this company as a Mafia that uses criminal and totally unscrupellous practices, and I see it as one of the most aggressve and dangerous economic players worldwide. That they seem to hinder the solving of the food crisis in order to enforce access for there unwanted gene-seeds and to multiply their profits is no surprise for me at all. I see it as a prime example of maximum and deadly cyncism, and as a crime against humanity for which they should be send to a tribunal like The Hague. This is not just any case of white collar crime.

Only a logical conseqeunce of a totally ungoverned liberal market philosphy - anything goes, anything is allowed if it brings profit.

repeatedly I read over the past 2 or 3 years that in animal experiments feeding with gene-manipulated plants produced health problems and even significant shorter life expectancies of test animals. there is good reason to use maximum caution and be very suspicious on such seeds. Even more so since it is impossiblöe to control them once they have been released to the envrionment - the areas that get contaminated in germany by simple environemnt factors like wind and water, in germany is reported to slowly but constantly growing. Not to mention that it takes an idito to buy seeds that fucntion only one season, and the plants' seeds cannot be used anymore.

I such killer-seeds become dominant in a given environment, and start to drive out traditional wheat, corn etc - go figure. we have according experiences with plants and animals being transported from one climatic zone/biotope to another were this species wasnot at home. It often ends with home species dying out when the newcomer is stronger and more resistent, or natural enemies are missing.

Another feeel good post for the victim consumer. Quite frankly, the consumer is the one at fault. The banks should be able to try anything they want, and the consumer is the one that should be the one to shun them for trying it.

Basically, I am convinced that no one in this world takes responsibility for ones actions anymore. Pathetic.

SB and company is all a victim in all this - NOT!!!

Perhaps i'm missing something here but how does a species that can't reproduce itself take over an environment?
