I've never in my entire life seen a female play a hardcore military sim of any kind. I'm sure they may exist, but there is a HUGE gender gap. Huge enough to make females almost nonexistant in the genera.
It's the same thing and worse with board wargames.
Hardcore wargames just don't speak most weomen's language. They DO exist I'm sure.. but like I said.. RARE.. RARE... almost infinitesimaly RARE ! They've been trying to analyze reasons for it for YEARS on Boardgamegeek.com (that I frequent a LOT) and there has yet to be any one difinitive reason.

(I've been trying and trying and trying to get my wife to throw down with any of even my SIMPLEST of war games with no success. Even Axies & Allies which is a super simple wargame eludes her and she won't play it.)

I DID however, several years ago, at a game convention encounter a female player at a tournament that I had entered. We were playing a sci-fi miniatures game called Warzone. It was me vs her.. and she spanked me... HARD !! I was wiped out of the competition in about 15-20 minutes. I had to check my manhood at the door as I left that day.

You would be surprised.

We have at least one knowledgable lady active on this forum. I remember there were more of them who showed up here in the past.

Where did Mercedes go? She was here when DW was released, but like many others faded away.

One of the best F4AF pilots I've ever had the pleasure of flying with is female.

Promote them all, that's what I say!

Why does it matter?

How many white, black, asians, ... are playing this game?

How many Americans, British, Russians, ... are playing this game?

How many under-30, over-30, ... are playing this game?

How many making <$20K,>$20K,>$30K ... are playing this game?

What does their sex matter? I ask, since it seems that women are made to feel self concious in largely male communities and starting a thread like this certainly conveys that message. So, why ask such a question?

I hope that there is some young female demographic which plays these games and if that experience so motivates them that they one day serve aboard a sub silently on watch to defend those of us who do nothing more than play PC games.

For what it is worth, I am a white, American, male (will not disclose income) and not trying to be politcally correct, but I find a thread such as this moderately irritating and distasteful.

??? The guy was asking a simple question, out of curiosity and you come up with an answer like that? I'm sorry but its hardly constructive to the thread, I also have wondered how many girls play such games/sims...as they are indeed VERY rare as they usually think "BORING" when they set eyes on such things. If you don't have anything constructive to add...don't add it

Mark does have a point. The question is just a few cuts above "ne cute girlz play DW lol" If the OP asked how many women or females played DW and why; I don't think the question would be misconstrued as something a sex deprived adolescent would ask. My experience on the net has shown me time and time again that whenever a woman does respond to such an inquiry the thread usually devolves into a dog pile of Dungeon and Dragons players making juvenile, sexist remarks, all in the hope that said “girl” will share pics of her boobies with them.

I'm always aghast hearing grown men still referring to women as girls in the 21st century.

In the past, 688(I) HK, we had several female officers in the Seawolfs (virtual navy).
One I never forget, she died of cancer at a young age. Tibbi was here nick.
