Light fog is this Captain's best friend!

I run TMO and RSRDC for 1.5 - and let me tell ya - light fog is the greatest thing for a Captain to have. With it, I can spot a target at 1500-2000 yards, though I can't "lock" it until its about 1200. However, escorts can't see me either! If its dark its even better!

When running into a convoy that is widely spaced, its entirely possible to relive a historical "night surface attack" - running at high speed into and out of a convoy, using the ships themselves to aid in your escape. With the reduced visual spotting range the ships have, its ok if I get spotted by a single ship - it gets sunk and the escorts all come running. By the time they get there - they get another report of me being spotted somewhere else, and another ship goes boom! When I see they are finally getting too close, I can disappear on the surface at high speed and then reattack from another angle.

Simply put - I LOVE LIGHT FOG!!!! Just thought I would share that.

That's what I like to hear! Balance has been restored to the fog world. So those are your two mods? Sounds elegant!

Well done DMS - I despise heavy fog myself only because by the time I see my target I am almost too close to shoot at it.

For me, in heavy fog I can make out a target coming out of the bank at about 500yrds. When the torp run has to be at least 400 to arm, that gives my slow arse very little time to set up the shot. Still - if all I can complain about is piddly stuff like fog.....
