Default Player Generated Missions?

Is there a way in a campaign game for the player to write his own mission, ie, determine in advance where his submarine is going to go? In SH3, SH3 Commander will let you program the patrol zone. However, in SH4, there is no equivalent program. Is there simply a file that the player can modify and receive a particular mission?

Have you tried the mission editor that comes free with the game?

I didn't want to do the mission editor, because I'm trying to generate patrol orders within a campaign, instead of simply generating missions. (I probably didn't word my first post very well). In short, I'm trying to make up for the lack of a program similar to "SH3 Commander." For instance, if I am playing in a campaign and it June 1943 and I want to patrol off of Truk, I would like to somehow be able to force the program to send me to Truk. Does anyone know of a way to do this?

The only thing that would prevent you from going to Truk is if you want the renown points from the mission assigned. You could either do the assigned mission first, then don't check in and go where you want or just go straight to Truk. You still get renown point if you ship ships so you can do that anywhere you want.
So, unless you want to play super realistic where you go follow orders and go where you are ordered to go, just go to Truk. How would that be any different then getting a mission to photo recon Tokyo harbor and failing and getting sunk. You don't get court martialed or anything like that for not completing your mission.
I have read in the forums that sometimes if they send you to a certain area it is because that is where the game is going to generate the most ships for you, maybe even convoys and Task forces, I do not know if this is fact or just someone guessing.

So basically if you want to go to Truk, then "Go to Truk". I just had a mission to Celebes Sea (is that spelled right?) and it was a wasteland, well, wastesea. I finally go my two merchants to complete the mission and said I'm outta here! Went to the North of the Bismark Sea and sank 38 Merchants and 19 Warships (2 BBs and 3 Carriers in that total the rest mostly escort stuff.) It was a long partol! but with a refit nearby, I just couldn't stop myself.....I need help!

I know that doesn't answer the question, but I would probably think the change to make that happen would be more trouble than it is worth, if it could be done, I'm not a Modder. In fact the modder forum might be a better place to ask the question, cause I'm sure it's not a simple answer.
My 2 cents for what it's worth.
