Yes, You heard right ^%$&(#& and also (&*(^*^%&^. and even more (*&^(&^(. Yes, I am &^%^&$^&^.
I am beginning to think my first efforts were pure dumb luck,, The Skipjack SSN worked great, as did the UB-I from WWI but now I have had nothing but 2 weeks of straight failure exporting and having it show up in and work in SHIII. I create in Gmax, export it one of two ways, either directly from Gmax to .obj or to .im and then obj. then import to shIII. (same end results as you will see. ) Almosot always I can get the sub to show up on the first load after an import. runs fine too, takes my hopes up.. But then quit, and go back in and reload,, forget it. it dies in the loading phase at about 65 percent loading. I compared polys,, and I have under the old object by 30 percent,, so I even added hidden objects to take it equal in poly load. same thing. loads well once,, and then will crash on reloads. I checked in other programs,, loaded the wavefront .obj file, all looks well, and the verticles are not flipped. So I am popping some more red flares, hoping someone can tell me what the &^$% I am doing wrong. down to a few hairs and going fast in Houston. i can see how you feel!
surely (???) and that's the issue) if the game and sub loads the first time after importing then it technicaly should load ever after!! i can't imagine why shutting the game down and restarting it should then render the sub incompatible with anything? i had similar problems every time i textured anything no matter what method i used it would be reversed flipped stretched or even wouldn't show up at all in a generaly random dice roll..different problem same end result really....despair it might be something to do with the need to clone a new sub?? that's all i can think of....

the U31 class boat hull, 3500 polies, 8210 verts
the 9b 5400 polies, 4000 vert,, crashes after the first successful load, so I thought,, maybe is the vert issue, type 2a 6000 poly and 4500 verts for its hull , sub loads like a champ each and every time,, sadly though this slot is needed for the Type IB boat due and also the 31 class needs a minimum of 2 aft, 2 forward tubes, so Logic dictates, 9d2, at 9000 polys and 6600 verts on the orig hull that should do it huh, nope crashes every time, what is so magical about the type IIa and IIB slots that make them accept just about any other model?? can the id number on this be changed on the file and clone it to a say type vii or 9 slot and the guns and extra tubes be added??? |

my uboat 31 class model hull, 3500 polys 82 bverts
the 9b where I attemted to replace,, 5oo polys and 4500 verts ,, loads and shows once,, then crashed replaced the type IIa, 5500 polys and 4500 verts works like a champ each and every time,, however I need tow aft and two forward tubes, and the type II's are the home of my UB-1 class boats. so ,, logic dictated to be,, the type IXD2 and its 9000 poly, 6500 verts would accept it since the IIA did so well, nope crashed outright again. what is it that makes the Type II's run nearly any model. can the type II be cloned with an id number change to a 9d2 slot or something and extra tubes be added since it is so versitile. or am I fighting a losing battle? thanks all |

Hi,, followed it step by step several times,, No luck. Only in the type II files will they and no others,
I am thinking I will have to just make releaseable subs,, all based on the type II model file , and when you want to switch boats, you load the new boat. |
