Default RATS!

I was getting ready to backup my 'mods' folder, that had over 10gb of mods well organized and correctly named and described, was just deleting some useless things and putting the dvds on the recorder, when I suddenly shift+del the wrong folder.

10 gb of the best mods I've ever seen, including 3 mods I was working on almost ready to release, gone to waste. Now I've a stock sh3 installed and no mods to apply.

What can I say... Im so mad about this that Im actually laughing at it... :rotfl:

Sorry for you guys that were waiting for some mod updates, this is going to take a while. At least 3gb of mods I'll have to re-download tonight, and my conection is nothing that good. Since this shi!t happened, maybe its best for me to wait for gwx 2.1 to come out before downloading anything. Jim, if you're reading this, can you tell me if the gwx 2.1 will be a standalone or I'll have to download the 2.0 as well?

Jeez Im so... depressed...

Im off to play some snooker, get the head back together... just... ..... (sighs)...

If you do NO other file shifting like copying and pasteing?
It could be recovered.
It's actually still on the HD.
The FAT just has a character zapped to say the file/files are gone.
It can be reset and SHAZAM!!
All files get restored.

WAIT PHILIPP!!
DO NOT DELETE OR ADD ANY FILES TO YOUR HARD DRIVE!!!

Except for this one...

Recuva is a free, open source file recovery tool that can get back those files and folders you lost.

Give it a try, it just might save you a lot of time and grief.

1. Don't download ANYTHING...leave your computer alone...shut it down...the files are still there, they are just disassociated w/ the file structure.

2. Download a file recovery application on another PC (Google "data recovery software" or something along that line to find a whole slew of options...I'm trying to find the link to a program that I used not to long ago to restore a corrupt partition...it cost me about $70.00 US...well worth it.)

3. Pull your hard drive out of Computer A and make it a slave (if it set as master) in Computer B (there are tonnes of resources on the Net to aid you in this if you already don't know how).

4. Run the file recovery application on your drive via Computer B.

5. If all went well, then you SHOULD be able to salvage almost of your files.

6. Put Disk back in Computer A...

Best of Luck,

Voyd

EDIT: Looks like Graf beat me to it...
EDIT #2: http://www.recoveryfix.com/recover-windows-data.html
You can run it for free and see how successful the recovery will be...if it's worth your while, you can then purchase a license you recover all of the non-corrupted files found...I'd try the freeware application that Graf had suggested first, though.

You do realize,
that since you went on the web,
you have loaded various files to your HD.
Temp files by browseing and such.
Since the Operating System sees the deleted file space as empty?
Guess where the new files go!!

You guys are more worried then me!

There's no problem using my computer and even playing other games, coz I have a kind of system different from what you guys are used to.

Look at the screenshot. The F: partition is just for silent hunter and mods, nothing else.

But thank you guys for pointing me out the recovery software. I work with computers but totally forgot about that kind of tools. I was getting ready to download all again, but now I'll just try to recover it all... THANKS!!!

I got it working, although after recuperating it just dumped all the files in one folder, a freaking mess... this is even worse then downloading all again.

Thanks for the tip, everyone, but looks like Im going to download it all again, some of the files are damaged and theres over 50 thousand files which it will just dump in one folder, no organization.

Thanks for the help, anyway. I decided to download it all again.

May the moderators now close this thread, thanks!
