Default 18-th lithuanian fight for freedom commemoration

Today is January 13th. A non-forgetible day for me and my country. I was just a kid back then in 1991, when these horrible events started to happen.

I remember waking up early next morning, found my mother watching TV and crying. I couldn't understand whats going on, started to ask questions. She was worrying about my father who drove to capital to protect TV station when Soviet forces wanted to capture it. Russians intentions was to terminate encouragements from our newly established independant government to civilian people not to give up and fight standing still and unarmed against Soviet tanks and soldiers. Lithuanian people believed that in peacefull way we could sort things right and successfully negotiate about the independance of our country. However things was not going nicely. Russia as usual put her hands on force of her weapons to deal with tough problems..
There were other hot spots too where actions took place. Parlament in capital Vilnius and radio stations all over the country. And everywhere were unarmed people who stood still protesting about assault on us.

I would like to share some footages from that time with you all:
;

Note: shocking imidges

God don't let this happen again and bless the freedom victims who sacrificed their lifes for us to live free!

To comemorate, I will not do any jokes about lithuanians having 6 toes today, which isnt true anyway, they have 5 toes like everyone else, 3 on the the fronant two on the heel. Allso lithuanian is not a language, but a serious throat infection.

But all joking aside, happy independance day.
