And Then There were nine.....
The last French Verteran of WW1 has passed away...
http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au...7-2703,00.html Just nine left now, not all of them served on the front line. Only one who severed the entire war still survives. ![]() |

We will not grow old as those that are left grow old.
At the going down of the sun, And in the morning, We will remember them. Lest we forget. |

*shakes her head*
I'm a big Ken Burns fan, the guy who made "The Civil War" and then recently "The War," which is about WWII. ("The War" is quite good, I think you'd all like it) Anyway, I was watching him give an interview about it, and he was saying he didn't want to do war documentaries after his success with "The Civil War." But then he read about how quickly WWII vets are dying off, and said he wanted to tell their story before they were all gone. He said we were losing national treasures. And then when I read that there are only a handful of WWI vets left alive, and I wonder why Mr. Burns wasn't as upset about that. There are a bazillion WWII documentaries, a lot of them damn good. But there aren't nearly as many WWI docs, and there are even fewer vets. That's a story that I think we ought to hear to, and now we probably won't have a chance to.
