Default They're Back!

It appears that the our friends at www.acesofthedeep.com intend to rip off Trigger Maru, ROW, some sub skins and 3D ship models, and offer it as a combined AOD mod available at their website.

There is a 'You Tube video' trailer for it here:

Well, i said anyone could use TM as a base for their own mod if they wanted to. (infact i've said it for months, my only cavet is to cite your source)

My official response...

Sweet! I can retire soon!

(edit: Seriously, you have no idea how much TM is taking now. Its grown entirely too big, i am only one person, and patch.s.. omg patchs.. PATCHS KILL ME. Supermods in the past grew on a stable, unchanging platform with a team of people actively owrking on it. TM grew on an unstable platfrom, with primarly just ME working on it. How many patchs have we had now? 5? Color me jaded, cause i am. )

It's a bad thing IMO, considering that work I compiled and tested for ROW is now being ripped off by those scumbags.

Definitely ROW. I can tell by the white water wakes off the sub.

Well i do have some row aspects incorporated into TM. was primarly done to get rid of "install order " questions, and why im taking the "service pack" approach rather then have ppl d/l the mod again.

If i wasn't looking for an excuse to step down and step back, i suppose id be upset. I can't really. Ive been looking to get out of modding for awhile. Part of that was posting that if someone wanted to take over, or use it as a base - be my guest. My assumption is they would cite their source, this spiirt of my (albiet poorly worded) statement was to continue the work.

In a way im flattered. Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery. But i can also understand peoples concerns here. Without any clear statements of their source and intent with it, it does look like plagurism, and thats bad for all modders. I know some AOD guy PMed me awhile back asking questions and i answered them i think but what he was asking went in one ear and right out the other. I just have too much to worry about, so i didnt think anything of it, and i dont know anything about AOD at all. I know theyve been around awhile, and produced some mods for Sh3.

*shrug* Personnaly, im just not goign to worry about it. Ive got the first service pack to TM sitting here on my hard drive, and its 80% done. Thats my focus. Just trying to find some more things to add to it and type up the documentation for it.

just says for download, i dont know if they charge for their mod packs? i guess plagiarize would be more appropriate. we'll see what they have in store for 'their' hard work...

Makes no sense to me you can get it all here for free; plus support and you can "nag" the creators endlessly, via post and PM's.
