Ross Kemp in Afghanistan
Ross Kemp in Afghanistan
[Documentary] [contains language that may offend] - if this offends you, then you need to have a good hard look at yourself in the mirror. This epic documentary is the best I've seen to date. Without a doubt this story shows the life of soldiers on the front-line of war, better than anything I have seen...and I'm a soldier myself [Infantry -20yrs]. It's funny, very sad but most of all very very accurate of how soldiers deal with fighting the enemy and losing mate's in the process. You see the families dealing with their grief and the happiness of their sons, fathers and mates coming home.......9 did not return. Ross Kemp is fair dinkum in his emotions and I have a new respect for this man, why? because it simply shows soldiers surviving and he was there with them. Award-winning journalist Ross Kemp travelled to Afghanistan to live with, travel with, and face fire with British soldiers. Kemp lived with sand storms, temperatures of over 50ºC and the constant threat of attack from the Taliban to film a documentary about the lives of soldiers for Sky One. "Conditions in Afghanistan are intolerable,” he said. “The heat is stifling and there's the constant threat of snipers, RPG attacks and land mines. During one engagement between B Company and the Taliban we were pinned down by enemy fire in open ground; bullets fizzed by inches from our heads, hitting the ground on either side of us. It was the most frightening experience of my life. I’ve never hugged the ground as tightly as I did when that happened. It's definitely the closest I have ever come to dying. I was so scared." Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6 Part 7 Part 8 Part 9 Part 10 Part 11 Part 12 Part 13 Part 14 Part 15 Part 16 Part 17 Part 18 Part 19 Part 20 Part 21 Part 22 Part 23 Part 24 Part 25 Part 26 Part 27 Part 28 Part 29 Part 30 Part 31 Part 32 Part 33 Part 34 Lest we forget Last edited by Venatore; 03-08-08 at 08:22 AM. |

A bit melodramatic at times, but still very good.

This is a great series. I watched the whole thing. The incident with the RPG attack was pretty crazy.
