How much have YOU donated to Subsim.com?

Ok fellas, time to put your money where your text buffer is. Thought this might be a fun and interesting way to compare how much people have contributed to keeping Subsim afloat. I realize people can outright lie, but I'm hoping most of us will be truthful. Maybe we'll even convince some lurkers to whip it out(their credit card, of course!) and donate to the cause.

I'll start. I first discovered Subsim sometime during the Silent Hunter II "Pacific Aces" phase. I've been a frequent reader ever since, although I do tend to disappear from time to time to pursue my first love, flight sims. But I always come back for the next release of Silent Hunter.

I believe that to date, I've donated $45. I think I dontated in increments of $15, $10, and $20. The $20 donation was just recently, while I was going through a divorce. I was bleeding money profusely at the time(legal fees), but having the ability to come to a place like Subsim to find and download great mods like the SH3 GWX mod, convinced me that even I could afford $20 to help fund this extremely worthwhile community.

Looking back on it, $45 is not a lot of money over the course of five or so years. In fact, now that I think about it, I've been a bloody cheapskate over the years!

I think it's time for me to start donating on a more regular basis. Won't you join me?

I fully support donating regularly to a forum you visit regularly. I happen to be a part of one that takes donations.

BUT

Having people brag about thow much they can donate, only makes those that can't afford the same uncomfortable, and isn't fair, in my opinion.

All donations, should be a private matter.

I'm with Steve on this.

Donating to Subsim is an individuals choice and people who struggle to support Subsim financially, support Subsim's Community with their time & knowledge.

You posting this topic is just plain wrong. There are no 'bragging rights' associated with donating to SS.

LOCK THIS THREAD!

Wow, sorry if I've struck a sensitive nerve. It was not my intention for this to be a bragging session. It was an attempt to unite around Neal and drum up some support for Subsim. If this is none of my *^#@ business, then please don't reply to the thread.

Btw, I understand that there are many people who don't have a lot of extra money laying around all the time. I'm one of them. But I also realize that there are some who do, and who maybe have thought about donating, but haven't yet.

Personally, with the amount of money I make in a year, I'm a little bit ashamed that I haven't donated more in the five years I've been reading and downloading from Subsim.

Maybe it would be better not to ask "How much", but rather "Have you"? I dunno, but I made them thread and I'll take my punishment from those who feel the need to lash out.
