I'm lost. I downloaded the latest version of JSGME. I put it into my Wolves of the Pacific folder. The instructions said to run it and it would create the MODS folder. I ran it and it didn't create anything. I made the folder myself. I placed the trigger maru 7zip file into the mod folder. I told 7 zip to extract all here. The hard drive made noise but no files appeared in the folder. Instead they were placed in the C\users\my name\apps\data folder (which I was unable to locate anywhere on my hard drive to be able to delete the files). The odd part was JSGME showed the trigger maru mod in the available mods section. I would really appreciate any help I could get. I have had this game for months but have been unable to play it due to an out of date computer. Now I have a new rig and (being an idiot) I can't add the mods I want. Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give me.

Like Pv says, it sounds like you are running Vista. From the JSGME readme:

Is Vista the reason 7 zip put the files in the wrong location when I told 7 zip to "extract here"?

Mr Redbird, the following applies to Vista: You can circumvent many of these types of problems by not installing Silent Hunter 4 (or 3) into the default location in your "Program Files" folder. Rather specify your own folder, such as "C:\Games\Silent Hunter\....." for example. The reason for this is in Vista, the Program Files folder is 'special' and very different from how it was in XP. Vista protects this folder, which means when you add things into the games in this folder, Vista does funny things with the files, actually placing these other files into special hidden folders, which is why JSGME cannot create the MODS folder, and your mods won't appear there, nor will your mods apply properly into the game.
So if possible and if you haven't done so, I advise uninstalling your game and reinstalling it, but customise the installation to a different location. This extra bit of work will save you issues in the long term as you use more and more mods. I actually thought there was another thread that gave instructions similar to what I just said above but I didn't find it. |
