Default [TEC]Weapon.sim Question

Due to current work on .sim files. Two lines piqued my interest. It's always great to have an 'idea' what they are, it's quite another to 'know' what they are.

Here's the lines in question.

depth_precision = XXXX

and

explosion_impulse = XXXX

The precision .... is this the range in metres of this weapons tolerance. i.e it will explode at up to +/- XXXX metres of it's 'SET' depth ?

The impulse .... is this how much physical interaction is applied in the blast to objects within the weapons range. i.e it does no extra damage, but merely 'moves' objects close to it determined by it's XXXX value ? (like rocking the sub)

Testing will most liely reveal much of this to me, but some solid answers from someone who knows to corroborate this would be great.

Thanks in advance,

Akbar

depth precision is the +- value of the DC. For ship-dropped DCs, this means +- X meters from the aim point of the DC. For air dropped DCs, it's +- the detonation depth. Air DCs, detonate at exactly the detonation depth, unlike ship dropped DCs. In my air DC mod, I used 25m and 45m, +-1m. I think that precision could be upped as far as maybe 3-4m and not be too out of line with reality.

In that case (say 4m) the DC would detonate between 21 and 29m.

For ship dropped DCs, setting a large value is very dangerous since the ship might aim at PD, and have the DC explode the second it hits the water. This is why stock ships sometimes blow off their sterns.

Impulse is the shake. Yes, it rocks the sub.

Cool, standard +/- on an airDC is only 1 metre factory setting ... historical setting are always the prefference

Thanks and thanks

In this case I'm the factory

Anywhere between 1 and 4. 4 seems on the high side to me, 2-3 might be better.
