rename those cfg files to .txt. I am not sure about torpedo and speed, I didn't get that far. CFG files aren't the only type that can rename to .txt, some other file types can be rename as you could learn deeper into modify whatever in the game.

Why mess with it by renaming the .cfg extension if you can open it in notepad just the same? Notepad doesn't require .txt, it's just the default.

.txt is notepad, notepad is .txt, what difference. even when they are opened with notepad, their extenisons become .txt anyway.

Basicaly your asking what to do to cheat a little, so you probably won't get alot of help.
TextPad makes for a great editor. TT tweeker is a more practical way to edit your game files.
It would be a better challenge to go about properly identifying your target / keel / and learn to use your eels for better shots.
Then you can become efficient at cussing at the game like the rest of us when your eels dud out or prematurly detonate.

No they don't. Saving in notepad doesn't change their extension to .txt (if you 'save as...' it looks like it though), or I would have messed up alot of times my config.sys, autoexec.bat (back in Win95/98 days) or plenty of .ini and .cfg files nowadays. I'm 200% sure I didn't.
