Default Many dud torpedoes with Trigger Maru 1.76

I have a problem with TM. I am playing Trigger Maru (1.76)without manual targeting. I noticed that most of the torpedoes become dud when they hit the target although I switched off the parameter " Dud torpedoes". It seems that this modification is a little bit too historical correct.

Does anyone of you has made similiar experiences?

Hi CN,

I have played Trigger since the beginning with a few personal modifications, not related to the torps though, and I have not had an issue with duds, nothing that seems out of the ordinary anyway. I play at about 76% realism at the moment.

Anyway, maybe someone else can offer more on this. If I see anything related I will post back

I have made the experience with some single missions like battle of samar. Everytime I play this mission each of my torpedoes is a dud.

Hiya's,
Been trying 100% realistic (damn no external screenshots lol)

What can i say but it's tough lol

Anyways, Trying to solve a glitch i tried 3 very rapid careers, Each i had roughly 3 patrols, These were time compression patrols to try and pindown night attack glitch

Now the 1st and 2nd proved to be the kind of usual i'm used to, The last one i must say i had never seen so many duds, I mean out of 6 fish 4 would explode soon after firing

Duci did say after 1943 i think the dud torps were sorted in rl and this is reflected in tm 1.76, I guess with all ai-randoms the duds can strike at anytime upto 1943 (i think anyways)

Now i come to the point, With tm 1.76 if i wanted external view i would have to go into tm gameplay.cfg (in another OS at the moment so can't double check that) and later the noexternal view setting and also in docs folder with sh4 folder

I assume that you will have to do the same for duds

Open the cfg with notepad and edit, For external view option in tm 1.76 i would eg: noexternal view=true i would change to noexternalview=false

Just choosing the no duds while tm is being used should not stop duds as tm overwrites or has already overwritten this this is the whole point of tm being realistic

But rem to alter the gameply cfg or whatever the exact name is in the sh4 folder in docs also

In fact hold on and i'll reboot and copy cfg with no duds in both sh4 prog folder and doc folder

Brb lol

Ok,

In all modes eg: easy normal hard realistic Duci has made duds

So you want to goto C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 4 Wolves of the Pacific\Data\Cfg then open GamePlaySettings.cfg with notepad, if C drives the letter you use or just goto that in whatever drive the games on

Now what you want to do is edit the line "DudTorpedoes=true" to read "DudTorpedoes=false"

eg:

[Normal]
LimitedBatteries=true
LimitedCompressedAir=true
LimitedO2=true
LimitedFuel=true
RealisticRepairTime=true
ManualTargetingSystem=false
NoMapUpdate=false
RealisticSensors=true
DudTorpedoes=false
RealisticReload=true
NoEventCamera=true
NoExternalView=true
NoStabilizeView=true
MPShowPlayerNames=true
MPShowTorpedoes=true

Now that's changed what i call the guts of tm, But you also have to change that setting in C:\Documents and Settings\Ant\My Documents\SH4\data\cfg GamePlaySettings.cfg

If after you have altered both cfg's and still get duds just delete the sh4 folder in my docs and a new game/career kicks in (also i'm not sure but you might have to redo graphic settings etc to your liking)

Hope that sorts you out

Have Fun

Ciao

I think the other thing you may find with regard to dud torps is that if you have twin speed torps you will always get a higher % of duds if you select high speed, which on reflection i think most of us do so we all get it.

if you look through the torpedo files (using S3D) you will see that there is a dud reduction by 50% as standard so you can cut that part of the duds down by using the slower speed.

speed however isnt the main issue here... its the angle of impact of the torpedo on the target, try and keep this figure as low as possible (you can also check the dud possibility angle in S3D).

This angle of impact has been slightly overcome by the NSM4 mod which allows you to use influence instead of contact for keel busting shots

I run with dud torpedo's on. IMO knowing how torpedo's perform will help you plan attacks more effectively.

No probs here with TM I usually get 2 duds at most out of 4 sent torps.

since I switched to contact only, no duds.

seems pretty cool to me. that's pretty close to historically correct, I think.

Except of course for the part where you know that will work.

We need a MOD that removes all the parts of a players brain, pertaining to SH4 memory. That way we can all get equally frustrated and make lots of topics about how my torps suck. Once the community understands the problems, we can just remove then replace the MOD, and presto. We all know diddly squat again.... perfect :p

You any good with a knife Steve?

Good, then you can apply the forums new 'brain surgery' MOD to our newer members

I remember first using RSRD and getting about a 60% dud rate on one patrol. I was strangely happy about it for some reason.

P.S, please take it easy on me Steve, I have seen some of your handiwork before!!
