SHIII GWX v2 problams

I have a problam when I start SHII the loading bar fills up and then I get a message saying that the menue ID can't be found. You click okay and then the game shuts down. What is the problam

are you using any other mods?

Are you using windows vista?

Did you install GWX on a fresh clean version of SH3 which has never been played or modified in any way and has been updated to version 1.4b?

Did you follow the install instructions explicitly?

Has this version of GWX worked on your computer before? And if so... What changes if any did you make since the last time it worked?

Did you read the frigging manual? LOL.

The answers to these questions will help others help solve your problems.

for unknown reasons, windows vista stores game files deep within hidden the guts of vista.

When you uninstall a game these hidden files stay put.

When you reinstall the game on vista the game reverts to using these game files. In turn, any mods you attempt to use become corrupt.

Therefore, there are added steps which must be followed to fully uninstall games.

I'll see if I can find them... Standby

1. If using SH3 commander - perform a rollback by clicking the rollback button in sh3 commander. Otherwise disregard this step.

2. Uninstall silent hunter 3

3. Locate the silent hunter 3 folder in program files and delete it

4. Go to my documents and delete the folder entitled sh3

5. Click start and perform a search for "AppData"

6. Open the appdata folder

7. Open the "local" folder

8. Open the "virtual store" folder

9. Open "program files"

10. If you see a folder called "silent hunter 3" or "SH3" delete it; if it is not there... Good.

11. Reinstall SH3 into your c: DO NOT INSTALL IN PROGRAM FILES,just install into the c:

12. Download and install patch 1.4b

13. Run sh3 once but don't play

14. Close sh3

15. Install GWX2 as per GWX2 instructions

16. Enjoy

Vista works ok but there are some annoying parts
