I noticed in TM that whenever I save underwater and return to the saved part the bow planes seem to get stuck and won't move beyond a point.

I do not believe this is a TM issue. I think it was a stock issue and often happens in high TC while surfacing and submerging.

Ok, good to know. Will save surfaced only.

Frankly Ive never had issues but the 'conventional wisdom' goes like this.
Save only while surfaced away from action and other shipping friend or foe. Some of the 'problems' may have been aleviated with the patches but there were real issues with corrupted saves. |

Since 1.4 I've probably saved at "P" depth ( or greater depth ) with and without a crowd of DD's breathing down my neck at least 30 times and have yet to have a corrupted save. Course I run a stock game ( except a few texture mods ) so I can not vouch for any mod screwing up. 1.3 and before was a different story.
![]() Although this pic was intended for a compass mod there were two enemy DD's and a light cruiser looking for me less than 2500 yards away and I saved three times under surface and never had a problem. ![]() Computers are computers and people are people which are a lot different. So who knows what really goes on in SH4 world ? Mine doesn't crash ( or corrupt under surface ) the next guy's does. ![]() OK back to that save. ![]() ![]() Note to self: Must refrain from hijacking threads.

I have no issues saving submerged or around ships. As I said, I only get the stuck planes when surfacing or submerging during TC.

I run stock with the 3 patches, 1.2 to 1.4, and have found the bow dive planes to work opposite the way they should. Dive they raise surface they lower???
Have had no issue with save in a submerged position though I always am at 1 TC when I save. ![]() |

You described it perfectly. I've noticed it in 1.4 prior to modding and I've noticed it during TM/RSRD. It's been a bug since day one from what I can tell.
Having said all that, it does seem to 'correct' itself when loading a saved game. It is annoying though to see the bars that are supposed to push the diveplanes down appear through the top of your hull, LOL. I've never saved while dived so I don't believe it's related to that in itself. In my experience it'll happen at some point later in a mission, I'll order a dive and the diveplanes do the opposite graphically of what they're supposed to do (I'll have to remember a screenshot one of these times). The boat still dives normally but the diveplanes look strange. :hmm: |
