Default Best way to transit?

I am ordered in a Gato Class boat from Pearl to Japan. At 1/3, it doesn't look like I have enough fuel for the trip. So, I put in at Midway to top off my tanks.

Now, what is the best way to head West? Do the plots in SH4 take into account that the Earth is not flat? Would I get better mileage by not just simply drawing a straight line between Pearl/Midway and Japan?

---

Another question: HOME and END rotate my sound head. Is there such a key combination for rotating radar?

Thanks.

Good thread.

So, the map is simply managed at a flat space then?

Yes - the game treats the world just like before Christopher Columbus.

Well, look at the map too. It's a Mercator projection. The further north or south you go the more distorted the distances. Someday maybe we'll get an actual globe.
