Default Can't install patch 1.4. (FIXED)

I have just upgraded to SH 4 after playing SH3 to death! However having just installed the game I proceeded to try to install Patch 1.4, which then tells me that

"The setup has detected that no version of Silent hunter 4 Wolves of the Pacific is installed.

This update requires that a previous version of the application be installed."

Is it just me or is that error message particularly unhelpful? Could it be that it is looking for the game in a different directory to what I installed it to (though I did not change it from default). Does it make a difference because i am running Vista.

I am confused!! Please help!

Ahhh, never mind. I think I may have just discovered what has gone wrong. It is indeed a Vista issue. Because I launched the install from the auto play flash screen the UAC did not ask me for a administrator password. This meant that the game was installed to a really rather randon path as C:\Program Files is protected from editing. I am now running the setup as an administrator and hopefully that will solve the problem!!

Or, simply install it anywhere else but Program Files. UAC protection only applies to Program Files and its subdirectories. I have SH3 and SH4 in an UbiSoft directory in my user space's Games directory, and I'v never had a problem with patches or using JGSME for mods.
